Angela Arquilla Real Estate Advisor

RE/MAX Trinity, Southlake

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
At 20, I worked as a front desk receptionist at the Sketchers corporate office in Manhattan Beach, California, where I had the unique opportunity to work closely with the owner and his assistant.

Where did you grow up?
Torrance, California

Growing up, what did you want to be?
I dreamed of becoming a marine biologist — I was fascinated by the ocean and everything in it. But as a teenager, my perspective shifted when my mom went through a divorce, bought a home on her own and gave us a great place to live. I’ll never forget how her realtor helped her through that transition, and that’s when I knew I wanted to help others the way that realtor helped my family. From then on, real estate became my goal and passion.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
I love getting outside and hitting a scenic trail for a long walk. There’s something about being surrounded by nature that clears my mind and re-energizes me. And when I need some true quiet time to unwind, you’ll find me enjoying a long, hot bath — it’s my go-to for slowing down, resetting and finding balance.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Socrates, one of history’s greatest philosophers. I’d love to hear his thoughts on life, ethics, and the power of asking the right questions to uncover truth and wisdom.

What is Dallas’ best-kept secret?
The original Neiman Marcus building downtown. It’s a timeless piece of Dallas’ history.

What do you love most about the industry?
The people. I love getting to know my clients, hearing their stories and understanding what truly matters to them. Every client has a unique journey, and being a part of helping them reach their next phase — whether it’s buying their dream home, selling to start a new chapter or relocating to build a fresh future — is incredibly rewarding. It’s not just about transactions — it’s about relationships, goals and making their dreams a reality.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
My commitment to innovation and my relentless service. I bring a unique blend of enthusiasm and expertise in real estate, mortgage and appraisal, giving my clients a competitive edge. I also am an avid learner and go above and beyond to learn new ways to service my clients.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
The most difficult aspect of my job is managing factors that are out of my control, like market shifts, interest rates or unexpected challenges during a transaction. While I can’t control these circumstances, I can control how I respond. I focus on being proactive, finding solutions and keeping my clients informed and supported every step of the way.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Focus on providing unmatched value. People want to work with someone they know, like and trust, so show up consistently, online and offline. Create engaging, educational content on social media, attend community events and nurture your sphere of influence by staying in touch in meaningful ways.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
Right now, [my fiancé and I are] binge-watching “Suits” and “Lioness” — they have us hooked! I’m an avid reader and right now I’m reading “Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALs Lead and Win.” When I’m on the go, I love listening to “The Ed Mylett Show” or “The Tim Ferriss Show” for inspiration and strategies to level up in business and life. I’m always looking for ways to learn, grow, and unwind at the same time!

What’s your favorite meal in Dallas?
As a sushi lover, my favorite meal in Dallas has to be at Uchi. Their omakase experience is incredible — every dish is so fresh, creative and beautifully presented. If I’m craving something more casual, Sake’s in Southlake is my go-to spot for delicious rolls and great atmosphere.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Dallas?
The Adolphus Hotel or the Winspear Opera House. I love the variety and think it’s what makes the city so captivating.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job?
During an open house, I was chatting with a man who had come in, and out of nowhere, he leaned in and tried to kiss me! Completely caught off guard, I immediately pulled back and firmly said, “What are you doing?” I asked him to leave, and thankfully, he did. It was a scary moment that could’ve gone really bad. Safety is — and always will be — a top priority in real estate.

What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
I’m an avid learner. I absolutely love diving into books, podcasts and courses about personal growth, business and real estate.

What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
My favorite vacation spot in the U.S. is Florida’s Panhandle, especially the 30A/Alas Beach area. The white sandy beaches, crystal-clear turquoise water and laid-back vibe make it the perfect escape.

What is your favorite city after Dallas?
Southlake. It’s the perfect blend of small-town charm and upscale living. I love the sense of community, the beautiful neighborhoods and the top-rated schools.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Build relationships, stay consistent, keep learning and always add value.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?
My favorite real estate iPhone app is my own personalized home search app. It’s designed to help clients find homes in real time with accurate, up-to-date listings straight from the MLS.

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
I’m a big fan of Mel Robbins for her no-nonsense mindset advice and motivation, and Ed Mylett for his incredible insights on success and personal development.
