Active listings jump in DFW as closed home sales surpass 2024 volumes

by Emily Marek

Active listings rose 36.1% annually in Dallas-Fort Worth last month, according to the March Housing Report from the MetroTex Association of REALTORS®.

There were a total of 29,829 properties on the market across the Metroplex, expanding opportunities for homebuyers.

Meanwhile, closed home sales just exceeded transaction volumes from March 2024, rising 0.7% year over year. A majority of those home sales — 28.4% — fell in the $300,000 to $399,999 price range.

The typical home stayed on the market for 96 days: 65 days for sale, plus 31 days to close. That’s 12 days longer than last March.

Given the rate of sales, the Metroplex had a 3.9-month inventory in March, up from 2.9 months a year prior.
