What was your most interesting job before going into real estate?
I worked at a pizza place all through college. Not only did I survive on cold buffet pizza, I also made some really dear friends.
Where did you grow up?
San Antonio, Texas
Growing up, what did you want to be?
I always thought I would be a teacher. Turns out, I don’t have enough patience. I can barely hold it togheter with my own crew sometimes. Side note, teachers are underpaid.
What do you do to relax when you’re stressed?
If time and money are not of concern, my very favorite thing is to run away (SOLO) to a resort in Cabo. I am trying to perfect my Spanish, so the trip is relaxing, educational, and it gives me the freedom to work at my own pace. On a more realistic front, I LOVE to go to the gym. I would live there if I could.
If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why?
Jesus.
What is Dallas-Fort Worth’s best-kept secret?
There is a Thai place in Flower Mound right down the street from my office called Thai Ruby. I have eaten Thai all over the world and it is one of my favorites.
What do you love most about the industry?
There is no ceiling. The harder I hustle, the more I grow. And when I outgrow my capabilities, I have the freedom to hire and grow more.
How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents?
Client experience and longstanding relationships. It took me over a year before I earned my first client. But now I am proud to say that I am almost exclusively referral-based, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Time management. I have four young kids who always seem to need me at the times when real estate is busiest (nights and weekends). It is a constant work in progress for me to give 100% in all areas while not draining myself to empty.
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
Always focus on the relationship. A client should never be “just a transaction.” My dad was always really big on the “golden rule” and the same is true in business. If you treat others the way you would want to be treated, it is not hard to stand out in this industry.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
I love any and all shows that glamorize the life of a first responder. I’m also a sucker for anything written, directed or produced by Taylor Sheridan.
Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Dallas-Fort Worth?
Not a building, and kind of silly, but I love the wheel at Grandscape. It reminds me of the London Eye and my time living overseas. Take me back!
What’s one thing people are surprised to learn about you?
That I have four girls and am open to having more. Once you get over the hump from two to three, adding another one isn’t that bad!
What is your favorite vacation spot and why?
Growing up we spent every summer at a beach outside of Charleston, South Carolina, called Folly Beach. From the sand babies we saved up and collected at the local store, to the daily bike rides to the post office to check the mail and even the library because there was no cable TV … these are some of my most favorite memories. I hope to one day create traditions as strong for my girls as these summers were for me.
What is your favorite city after Dallas-Fort Worth?
London
What is your advice for someone new to the industry?
Don’t wait until you have it all figured out. Just start failing forward.
What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app?
Apple Notes app — easy to edit on the go, easy to share. So simple, even I can figure out how to use it!
Who are your favorite people to follow on social media?
I’m very interested in health and wellness and finding holistic ways to support our bodies. I love Gary Brecka and Barbara O’Neill.
