Texans are spending big money on home renovations

Dallas and Houston rank in the top 10 cities for home renovation spending, according to a report from Pro Tool Reviews.

The professional tool review site analyzed home renovation spending across the U.S. and determined that Texas is the No. 2 state in the country for such expenditures, with residents spending $56 billion in the past two years. Bathroom remodels were the most popular.

Furthermore, Dallas and Houston rank Nos. 3 and 7, respectively, when it comes to renovation spending: Dallasites spent $15.4 billion in the past two years with a mean expenditure of $5,165 per household, while Houstonians spent $13.6 billion with a mean expenditure of $5,261 per household.

Across the country, remodelers spent more than $641 billion on home renovations in the past two years, with the most common projects relating to water heating, HVAC, flooring, plumbing and windows and doors.
