HomeSmart’s yard signs will now have QR codes and NFC (Near Field Communication) tags that will allow home shoppers to scan and access property details, while eliminating the need for onsite brochures.

These on-demand tools not only benefit the buyer and seller during the home-shopping experience, but they also give agents more exposure, the company said. Buyers can contact the agent, request a showing and make an offer through their smartphones.

The SmartSign QR code directs users to access HomeSmart’s HomeNearMe.com and gives them details on a specific property listing. Alternatively, tapping the SmartRider NFC also brings buyers to the site.

“Agents shouldn’t have to worry whether their brochure boxes are full or rely on potential buyers to jot down property information while out and about,” HomeSmart Founder and CEO Matt Widdows, said. “SmartSigns and SmartRiders give our agents peace of mind, putting listing details in the hands of interested parties in real-time.”
