What is the most difficult aspect of your job?
Being your own boss. You have to be disciplined. There is no one telling you how many listings you need to get. There is no one telling you what hours to work. You have to be the judge of that.
If you want to be successful in real estate, you have to act as if it’s a full-time job, meaning you take eight hours out of your day to focus on real estate, whether that means showing houses, holding open houses for other agents, making cold calls, following up, getting to know your market/studying your market, generating ideas for leads. If you take this as a part-time job, you’re only going to get part-time results.
What’s your best advice for generating new leads?
When I first got my real estate license, I talked to fifty people a day. Also, I held as many open houses for other people as possible! I filled my week-end or an evening with open houses and grabbed buyers that were unrepresented.
What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately?
I am currently binge-watching “King of the Hill.” I am currently reading “Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap… and Others Don’t” by Jim C. Collins. I am currently listening to music from the 80s & 90s.
