Texas is the state with the most homes built post-2010, according to a recent analysis of United States Census Bureau data.
The Steamboat Group Real Estate analyzed home ages in every state across the country and found that in Texas, 22.5% of all homes were built in the last 15 years.
That percentage equates to nearly 2.5 million homes — far more post-2010 properties than any other state in the country. For comparison, in North Dakota, the state with the second-highest percentage of new homes, 20.74%, that’s only 68,765 new homes; in No. 3 Utah, 20.65% is 233,297 new homes.
Other states in the top 10 were Idaho, South Carolina, North Carolina, Nevada, Delaware, Colorado and Tennessee.
“States located predominantly in the South or the West ranked highest in the study, with nine of the top states located in either region,” a spokesperson for The Steamboat Group said in a press release. “What that tells us is that infrastructure is being heavily prioritized in these areas, with homebuyers, particularly first-time buyers, being more exposed to affordability when it comes to buying a home.”
