Century Communities acquired Dallas-Fort Worth homebuilder HistoryMaker Homes. The merger triples Century Communities’ footprint in the Metroplex.

HistoryMaker Homes is the longest-standing production homebuilder in the Lone Star State, according to a press release. The company was founded in 1949 and is headquartered in Grapevine.

“For five generations, my family has been proud to build quality new homes — supported by a best-in-class team — that Texas families could count on,” CEO Nelson Mitchell said in a press release. “As we looked to the future, it was important to find a partner that shares our commitment to quality, integrity and the customer experience, and that would give our people room to grow. Century Communities is that partner. I’m confident our team, our homeowners and our trade partners are in great hands, and I look forward to seeing the HistoryMaker legacy continue as part of Century.”

Century Communities’ existing DFW operations will combine with HistoryMaker Homes’, forming one Grapevine-based division. Homebuyers already under contract will continue to work with their existing HistoryMaker Homes team.

“HistoryMaker has earned the trust of Texas homebuyers for more than 75 years, and its product and lot pipelines fit squarely within our strategy of building depth in our existing markets,” said Jim Francescon, executive vice president of Century Communities. “We’re proud to welcome the HistoryMaker team to the Century family, and we thank Nelson Mitchell for entrusting us with the next chapter of a company his family has built over five generations.”

“HistoryMaker Homes gives us the scale, land position and local talent to accelerate our growth in Dallas-Fort Worth, one of the largest housing markets in the country,” added CEO Rob Francescon.

Century Communities will continue a land relationship with Jabez Development, HistoryMaker’s sister land development company.
