Texas REALTORS® shares plans for upcoming REALTOR® Day at the Texas Capitol

by Emily Marek

The biennial Texas REALTORS® advocacy event, REALTOR® Day, is set to take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. The association shared their plans for the day in a recent news release.

“Each legislative session, Realtors prove themselves as the state’s leading private property rights advocates by showing up in droves at the Texas Capitol and speaking directly to legislators,” said Marcus Phipps, chair of Texas REALTORS®. “This year, we’re excited to help shape the conversation as lawmakers make property tax reform a top priority.”

Phipps discussed the association’s various priorities for the 2023 legislative session in a recent letter to Houston Agent magazine.

In addition to property tax reform and private property rights, Texas REALTORS® will be rallying for appraisal reform, statewide investment in renewable energy, transparency in Homeowners Association (HOA) operations and infrastructure improvements including expanded broadband Internet services across Texas.

The association will also speak out against forced annexation, mandatory sales price disclosures and wholesaling, an investment strategy often used when flipping houses for a profit in a short period of time.

Representatives from the National Association of REALTORS®’ “Riding with the Brand” tour will accompany Texas REALTORS® to the Texas Capitol in Austin on March 22.
