Texas is known as a hotspot for big business and industry. But how does the Lone Star State treat small business owners?

The Credit Review analyzed the 100 largest metro areas in the United States to determine which cities are the best — and worst — to start a small business. The personal finance website used metrics like unemployment, business taxes, GDP per capita, population growth and more to make their ranking, which placed Austin at No. 1.

Dallas-Fort Worth ranked at No. 8 overall — the metro earned a score of 9.1 out of 10, bolstered by a high GDP per capita and low business taxes statewide.

According to the report, Dallas is also the No. 1 place in the country to start a small business in the management of companies and enterprises — for example, businesses in the finance or accounting industries.
