During last week’s legislative meetings in Washington, D.C., the National Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors voted to repeal the non-commingling rule —often referred to as ‘no commingling’ — from the MLS Policy Handbook. The rule allowed MLSs to require non-MLS listings to be displayed separately from their own.

No commingling was previously optional, but is now no longer part of NAR policy. 

“The National Association of REALTORS® Executive Committee repealed the optional non-commingling rule from the MLS Policy Handbook,” an NAR spokesperson said. “This decision was based on feedback about the rule’s declining usage and relevance in local marketplaces. The updated rule’s impact will depend on an agent’s specific MLS memberships. Many agents may not experience any change since the original rule was optional.”
