John J. Canterbury III, Realtor

Allie Beth Allman & Associates

With a background in finance, John J. Canterbury III began his career in commercial real estate, eventually adding residential properties to his offerings after multiple client requests and help from a mentor.

“A very successful friend in the real estate business took me under his wing after seeing my potential for success in this business,” recalls Canterbury, a Realtor with Allie Beth Allman & Associates. “After proving myself, he brought me into his firm.”

Named “Best Realtor” by D Magazine for the past four consecutive years, Canterbury now mentors other agents.

In thank-you notes, clients always compliment Canterbury on his integrity, market knowledge, professionalism and commitment to answering the phone whenever they call, regardless of the reason.

While Canterbury acknowledges that the transaction process can be emotional for most people, he remains a calming force for clients. His expertise, negotiation skills and ability to keep the process on track have helped him build a business based mostly on referrals.

Skilled in luxury and commercial real estate, Canterbury’s hands-on experience in area transactions helped him develop a deep understanding of the local real estate landscape. He has lived in the Dallas area for 40 years and the Park Cities area for 25 years, helping him learn firsthand why each is a wonderful place to call home or to base a business.

Canterbury recently sold a home for clients that they loved but had to part with for personal reasons. “I found buyers [who] were as in love with it as my sellers,” he shares. “I got both sides together, and the results were heartwarming: the sellers loved the buyers, which made it all much easier for them.”

In addition to real estate, Canterbury has a passion for travel, history and architecture.
