Prices hold steady in greater Fort Worth housing market

by Emily Marek

Prices held steady at $342,000 across Tarrant County in January, according to the Tarrant County Housing Report (via GFWAR).

Home prices increased 0.5% to $323,500 in Fort Worth in January as inventory hit 3.2-months, according to the monthly report from the Greater Fort Worth Association of REALTORS®.

Active listings decreased 1.7% year over year, while closed sales fell 11.4% year over year, with 520 homes sold.

“The January home market is normally a slower time,” GFWAR President Shawn Buck said in a press release. “Because real estate is local, some communities within the region are experiencing a softening market, but overall, Fort Worth is leveling out to a more sustainable housing market.”

Prices also held steady at $342,000 across Tarrant County, while active listings and closings decreased 2.7%. Given that rate of sales, the county had a three-month inventory.

“The region is currently insulated from extreme price drops due to the popularity and affordability of the area,” Buck said.

Prices increased slightly in Parker County, where the median rose 1.9% to $429,450. Active listings were relatively flat, and closings decreased 7.3%.
