Green Brick Partners held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Whispering Grove, a new entrance park at its Rainwater Crossing master-planned community in Celina.

The two-acre park features landscaping, gathering places, walking paths and a reflection pond. The park is anchored by Scout’s Tree, a 35-foot steel sculpture from Dallas artists Brad Oldham and Christy Coltrin. The sculpture includes a cluster of golden leaves that serve as a tribute to Richard Rainwater, the late Fort Worth philanthropist and namesake for the community.

“Christy and I believe the best public art does more than mark a place because it becomes part of its story,” Oldham said in a press release. “With Scout’s Tree, the weathered steel trunk honors the past, while the mirror-polished branches reflect the energy and promise of Rainwater Crossing’s future. People can walk through the trunk, discover Scout, the purple martin within the branches, or experience the sculpture in passing.”

Rainwater Crossing will officially open to the public on Sept. 26. Upon completion, the MPC will feature over 1,800 homes from builders including Normandy Homes, Centre Living Homes and CB Jeni Lifestyle Homes, as well as additional parks, trails and amenities. The community’s phase one amenity complex, The Perch, is scheduled to open next spring and will include a pool, splash pad, pickleball courts, playground, hammock park and clubhouse.
